Look at picture below, what is the difference between using lights, candles, stained color glass, and darkness, to create a transcendental euphoria vs modern techno lights, imagery, and darkness
LET GOD DO HIS OWN THEATRICS
When Adam and Eve sinned they made their own covering and God said, no! He gave them a picture of substitute sacrifice for the covering of Salvation, or coats of skins. Abel matched it, in his offering for his propitiation and Cain brought the best of his own hands.
Then God told Noah to build an ark according to His design, so Noah and family were saved.
Then God revealed himself as the burning lamp to make covenant with Abram Gen 15, then this same lamp or fire shows up in Ex 3;3 as God the consuming fire in the thicket, prickly, thorny bush or Israel as they will crucify Him.
Then as God does his theatrics on the mountain, His voice thunders and trumpets, and there is a roaring of flame. Then notice God says to Moses make everything according to what I show you, do not deviate, so all the tabernacle worship was God designed, not mans design.
Then 2 priest Abihu and Nadab (good names to represent God) think to deviate and manipulate God's design of incense and they put something in it, to create a strange fire, a stimulant, an aurora, an euphoria of sensualism and emotion over Spirit and truth. God strikes them dead.
Notice after all the years of rebellion, High Places, babies to Moloch, removing God's altar for a replica of Assyrian altar, then drawing creeping things on walls of temple, and turning their backs on God, to worship, images, Astarte, and Tammuz, they thought they were Rich and in need of nothing. Sounds familiar doesn't it.
Re 3:15 I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot: I would you were cold or hot.
Re 3:16 So then because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spew you out of my mouth.
Re 3:17 Because you say, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and know not that you are wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
Re 3:18 I counsel you to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou may be rich; and white raiment, that you may be clothed, and that the shame of your nakedness do not appear; and anoint your eyes with eyesalve, that you may see.
Re 3:19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
Re 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
Re 3:21 To him that overcomes will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also
overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.
Re 3:22 He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says unto the churches. (KJV)
Notice God didn't say to Israel they didn't have God's word, truth, doctrine, and Bible. They knew what was required of them, but they were bored with God's ways, so they did their ways, added, took away, and God removed his Glory from Temple and only Ezekiel saw it.
Sound familiar again. God is outside the temple. Just as Jesus is outside the church of Laodicea.
Laodicea believed themselves to be rich in truth and doctrine, and Jesus doesn't mention or rebuke them for bad doctrine, He is confronting their blindness and making their own garments of covering. That would be a false sense of worship of what we bring before God, just like Cain and apostate Israel did.
What has the church done?
1. dishonor God, I am not saying to be legalistic, but most pastors dress like bums before God, to serve the people and not God. We are to worship God with all our being, meaning to bring our best, like a physical sacrifice which God would accept, no blemish, but we blemish in our disrespect, they stand before a king, and will not put on dress as standing before President, Congress or a court, which God deserves more. Understandable if picnic and baptism after church, or from work, or special issue, OK.
2. They have added to worship, it is not the singing and music, though I recommend avoiding, trying to create a sensual emotional response in fast to slow/soft and back and forth music, which manipulates response, rather than Spirit and truth. A past pastor of mine wrote a book of Worship, just as I described.
It isn't the screens, staging of lights of any sorts, that is not the problem (for drama), but how it used to do in worship. To use lights, video or manmade manipulative imagery, like lava color imagery motion, kaleidoscope or psychedelic imagery. stars moving across screen, wrong color ocean waters on screen, or such. The lights moving, thinning, widening, and changing colors, lights changing all over sanctuary, the strange designs projected on the floor, walls and ceilings, maybe even a mist, smoke or the dust moving to refract the like to give light as a moving, changing euphoria. Like a rock concert. All these are, are eye stimulants, to create in congregation the idea of worship, a sensual, emotional response, it is the strange fire of Abihu and Nadab, good names, but bad representatives for God. You can have a good teacher, good doctrine, and yet God is outside because pastor has allowed God and His image to be defiled, by manmade imagery.
If you had pictures of nature, a Tabernacle or Temple design or symbols representing Christ, that would be fine. Using video of nature represents Gods creation not ours, as long as it isn't manipulated.

We are to Worship God in Spirit and in truth, these do not need false imagery. God will not be mocked, Beware of churches who use the means above, to psychologically seduce you to believe you worship God in those things, they are only replacements or additions to things like: rosary beads, Mary, a statue of Jesus, repetitious prayers, or music, or any other idol which becomes another Jesus while He is outside knocking.
